Californians for Higher Education Reform is a voluntary organization of ordinary California citizens, who recognize that public higher education
in California, once a source of state pride, is a wreck: tuition and fees are outrageously high, students are deeply in debt, and the quality
of curricula is inadequate.
Our public universities and colleges are no longer governed according to Californians' best interests. Rather, they have become increasingly patterned
after and resemble greedy, impersonal for-profit corporations.
Our organization is not affiliated with any political party or division of the political spectrum. The need for quality, affordable public higher education
is something everyone agrees on.
Our work focuses on educating and mobilizing public opinion, motivating individual universities and colleges to address these issues, lobbying for legislative remediation, and reinstatement of a California Master Plan for Higher Education.
